Dear Santa…

Dear Santa,

It’s been a really great year, and I’ve been such a lucky (*coughs*) girl, but if I were to wish for a few things to be bundled up on Christmas Day, they would be:

Greater discipline – to make the most of the time that I’ve set aside to write, and not get so distracted by emails, phone calls, Facebook, ironing….

Notebooks and pens – you can never have enough pretty notebooks, and pens.

Enjoy the moments more – not to be so guilty about neglecting the WIP when I choose to do exciting things.  You only live once, so I’d like to live it more fully.

Let go of anxiety – I get too worked up about things.  I’m practising Headspace, which is genius, but I do get trapped by my self-limiting beliefs.

To be a bit kinder to myself – probably at the root of many of my bad habits (and procrastinations), but I’m super-tough on myself, which I KNOW serves little purpose, and fuels the blurts and the doubts.

To learn something new – this year was gig rowing (I’m still doing it), so next year I want to feel the fear and do it anyway for something else.  It’ll help with the being kinder, if I’m being braver!

A puppy – who doesn’t want a puppy?  I do! We have to stop the gallivanting first, I know, and I’m not quite ready to do that (sensible head on).

Another writing retreat – oh, I’ve already booked one.  I can’t wait!  It will spur me on with my WIP when last of the turkey is eaten and family have gone home.  I’m so looking forward to writing time in my own county at The Writing Retreat.

More kindness – the world scares me a bit, there’s so much unrest, but I’m a great believer in reciprocity, so if we were all a bit more kind, perhaps the world would be less tense.  Actions start with me.

Thanks Santa for hearing me.  Is that too greedy?  I hope not.

Love

Julia xx
